About Jarenn
Hi, my name is Jarenn and I traveled to Seoul, South Korea in August 2012 to begin my semester abroad at Yonsei University. I was in my senior year at the University of Hawaii at Manoa earning a BBA in Human Resources. This amazing opportunity is all thanks to a scholarship provided by the Oscar and Rosetta Fish Scholarship for Excellence.
Why Korea?
I am 25% Korean and love learning about my culture. As a 4th generation Korean-American, I called myself "diluted." I attempted to embrace my culture by studying the language, listening to K-Pop, eating Korean food, and traveling there when I was 19. When I had the chance to study abroad, Korea was the first and only place on my mind. I wanted to live like a Korean person, make Korean friends, and learn the language. Although my time there was very short, I know I made the most in my attempt to find my inner Korean!
Wondering why these posts are from 2013? Because I still have to update a lot of info! I've lived in 3 places (HI, Korea, WA) in the span of 5 months so there's been a lot of changes, but here's hoping that this info, 1 year later would be of use to you!
